FAQ

What happens in a Kinesiology session?

Every Kinesiology session will be different as it is always tailored to your needs. Sometimes you might have a specific area of concern (such as an emotional crisis, depression, anxiety, fear, digestion, relationship problems, pain, work stress, grief, worrying about what others think) whilst other times it might be more general stress or overwhelm. Read more about what you can work on in a Kinesiology session here.

Once we have a shared understanding of the issues to work on, you will remove your shoes and lie face up on the massage table. During the session gentle muscle monitoring techniques are used to detect imbalances in your body. Discussions continue throughout the session with a range of information and connections shared as they come up.

Whilst sessions vary, common aspects might be the use of flower essences, muscle testing, holding acupressure points and the use of visualisations. At the end we discuss the insights you’ve gained and what these might mean for you in your life.

How long is a Kinesiology session?

Typically sessions are one hour but you can book a ninety minute session if you prefer. This can be helpful for the first session.

How much does it cost?

$115 for one hour; $155 for ninety minutes.

How many Kinesiology sessions will I need?

Kinesiology is very effective but it’s not a “quick fix” and I don’t recommend one off sessions – this does not really honour the deep healing process you’re undertaking. If you decide to book, plan for a minimum of three sessions – by then you’ll know if you want more. Many people do experience signficant changes in their first session or two, however this can sometimes reveal underlying issues that they then wish to address.

Lots of clients come to Kinesiology because there are imbalances in a number of areas of their lives. To achieve best results this often means starting with fortnightly sessions and then once things start to settle, monthly sessions to continue to deal with stressors as they arise, rather than the consequences later. Often clients find that part of the process is learning to be more gentle with themselves. Change doesn’t have to be hard but you do need to be willing to do the work.

Kinesiology is a way of giving yourself some support as you explore and achieve your potential and helps remove blocks in your path. This is why I continue to have regular Kinesiology sessions.

Will Kinesiology be right for me?

Kinesiology is very effective if you’re ready and able to take responsibility for where you are and for your own healing. One of the biggest things Kinesiology can do is to help you reconnect to your own wisdom. Many, if not most of my clients want to connect with themselves and their purpose on a far deeper level. If that appeals to you, you’ll probably get a lot out of Kinesiology.

How will I feel after my session?

Everyone’s experience is different and you will probably find that your own experience varies according to the nature and depth of the issues you’re addressing. Many clients say they feel “lighter” and more energised after their session. Sometimes, if you’re highly stressed and have been relying on adrenal energy to keep going, you might feel very tired (ie you get in touch with how you actually feel).

Usually, you will notice you feel differently about the issues you wanted to work on. The stress around them has been diffused. You will have gained new insights and awareness that you might wish to do some further reflection on. It is helpful to just observe what you feel.

In the days after your session you should drink plenty of water; this is the case with all energy work.

After your session, feelings of increased happiness are common. Often people say they feel calmer, relaxed and more in control. You might find old memories are triggered or you dream more than usual. Sometimes you might feel up and down or unsettled for a few days as you process the session.

Occasionally, you may experience what is known as a “healing crisis” where symptoms actually feel temporarily worse. You may even experience cold or flu-like symptoms, feel achey or just unwell. This is part of the healing process and is a sign that a deep shift has occurred. Symptoms typically pass within a day or two, after which time you should feel much better.

Sometimes, if you’ve been suppressing emotions such as grief, you might find yourself feeling more emotional in the days following.

Call or email me if you’re concerned about anything you’re feeling after a session.

I think I have “x” condition, can you diagnose, prescribe for or fix that?

Kinesiologists do not diagnose, prescribe for or fix problems. I will work with the symptoms that you provide and then as I muscle monitor, your body will provide us with information about the issues that are troubling you and ways that we can start to dissolve the stressors in your energetic systems.

This will often have an impact on physical issues. However if you are worried you have a medical condition, please seek medical advice.

Kinesiology can work very well in conjunction with other therapies, including psychology, chiropractic, naturopathy, reiki, remedial massage and many others.
