What does it mean to be connected to your feminine energies?

We all have a balance of masculine and feminine energies. Sometimes, my clients have been through a phase of pushing, rushing, striving, achieving and doing. This is a more masculine way of being. Feeling, sensing, intuiting, being and allowing are more feminine energies, along with feeling sensual and receptive, and we can start to feel disconnected from these energies if we’ve been in an excessively masculine state.

Additionally, some of my clients want to re-connect to their bodies, experience more fun, pleasure and playfulness, or feel more connected to their sexuality, and want to know how they can start to do this. This can be the case when in a relationship, when by yourself, or when healing from past relationships or wanting to attract a new partner.

In Kinesiology sessions, we can focus on reconnecting you to your feminine energies and restoring balance. However there are additional tools and practices I often recommend my clients explore as they begin to connect to more of their feminine energies. It can be as simple as playing music you enjoy, burning candles or incense, having baths, using essential or Alchemical oils (I use Michelle’s Sacred Self oils – you might look at Intimacy, Passion, Self-Love or whatever you feel drawn to), guided meditations or dancing around your living room.

Dance or yoga can be a great way to get back into your body, and these days there are a number of dance practices which have healing intentions. I share two I have personally tried below, along with some other useful resources.

Always use your own intuition and listen to your own body – notice what attracts you and what feels good for you.

Chakradance

Chakradance is a practice based on healing and balancing the seven main chakras. Having done the 8 week series, I can say that I found it very powerful and healing. I like the way it incorporates meditation, dance, mandala drawing and also the opportunity to verbally share your experiences with the group each week. It’s SO beautiful to get the chance to dance blindfolded. There’s no point worrying about how you look, and even if you start out feeling inhibited, you learn to just move as you desire to the music of each chakra. A beautiful way to become more connected to your body and feminine energies.

What is Chakradance?

“In a darkened room, lit only by candle-light, we move to music created to resonate with the vibrations of each of our 7 major chakras.  We dance with our eyes mainly closed (blindfolded in my class), and our attention turned inwards, for unlike most other dance practices, Chakradance is about making a connection with our inner world – the world of our imagination, feelings, intuition and senses…

5 Rhythms Dance

I have only tried this once, at a one-off event in Clare but it was also beautiful! 5 Rhythms includes a lot more ritual, less guidance and you dance without a blindfold.

Naked Yoga and other practices with Rosie Rees

Rosie Rees is a relationship and singles coach. Amongst other things, she sells jade eggs which can be used as a healing tool (visit her site to read more), and also teaches nude yoga classes. Though based in Perth, she has an Australia-wide tour coming up in August/September 2015. Rosie’s nude yoga classes sell out!

Dance events and podcast with Susana Frioni of Love.Sex.Desire

Susana Frioni has a podcast called Love.Sex.Desire which focuses on a wide range of topics in this arena which could be great to explore if Susana’s open and curious approach is one that attracts you:

“My journey has been about deepening my connection with my own soul and my own body, and as this body-soul connection has deepened so has my desire to explore sex, in particular sex that is transformative and sacred.”

Susana also runs live dance events. I went to one in Melbourne in 2014, it was great!

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini yoga is a form of a yoga with an increased focus on breathing, chanting and balancing/enhancing your energy (that is my take on it). I’ve heard warnings about getting too involved in Kundalini yoga for the reason that apparently raising your Kundalini energy too quickly can have some negative effects, so do your own research and listen to your own intuition and your own body. If you feel attracted to it, ease into it!

With that disclaimer, I personally found that doing some Kundalini Yoga classes on yogaglo.com was a great way to re-connect me to my body and enhance the flow of my energies in a more noticeable way that other forms of yoga, so I found it very positive.
