I am often asked how I look after myself, how I balance the work I do in Kinesiology.
They say, don’t you get tired? Do you get down, listening to other people’s stuff?
The answer is no, but with a caution.
I don’t, because I look after myself.
I respect my own boundaries, my own energy, my capacity. I have to. Plenty of people do burn out in this industry.
I’ve written before about being ok with spending money on yourself, but this is more to do with time and energy. It’s a sovereignty thing.
One of the big things I do is limit how many clients I see in a day, and try to have a half an hour break between each. So when people ask do you get tired, is it draining, the answer is no. But then if I completely filled my days it would be yes.
If I do push myself, sometimes I will be fine but other times I become dehydrated (you need to drink so much water when you do energy work!), headachey, and find it hard to switch off. Things will still whirl around and I can’t sleep for hours. It’s not a sustainable way to work.
My capacity varies and depends what else is happening in my world. At the moment, I can only see about four clients a day, sometimes five. I don’t over-fill my days. I’m not an airline, I don’t add extra clients just in case.
So that can present another problem – late cancellations or reschedules (ie within 24 hours). Especially, if there are more than one in a day! Since I still don’t want to over-book but I do want a viable business, I’ve added a boring policy about it.
I do some self-Kinesiology too – I muscle test myself to find out what flower or crystal essence or other information I need. I can also balance myself to goals or affirmations I’m working with.
I see a Kinesiologist regularly too, to make sure I’m working through my own stuff, but also to help me achieve my own potential.
I also see a personal trainer each week to help me have energy and a strong, healthy body and do things like go and have pedicures. I meditate and do yoga when I can. Last weekend I went on a healing retreat to Daylesford. There’s another in October. It was lovely.
What do you do to look after yourself and your energy?

What a great post Kerry. Your blog and website look fantastic…and your new workshop sounds like it will be a wonderful day. Let me know if you need extra people to come along and I’ll let some clients know.
Hi Kate, aren’t you lovely. That would be wonderful! Thank you. I’m so pleased you like the new site too. I always enjoy reading your blog.

I enjoyed your blog. Yes is is very important to value your time and respect yourself expecting others to do the same.
Well done you for learning this lesson, something I’m still working on!
